I colored this drawing after re-reading the classic Envisioning Information by Edward R. Tufte.

The "wrong" paths will lead back to where the choice began.. If the traveller is lucky, or if time doesn't exist the path will lead to the "ideal". If time does exist, the traveller will likely end up stranded. I apologize for the quotes.
